REFLECTION: In Conversation with Maya Feller
Take time to ground with us in the Good Life Garden.
This REFLECTION: In Conversation features a meditation by Solonje Burnett incorporating SASS botanical beverages, a cultural affirming herbs talkback with Maya Feller MS, RD, CDN, and a garden tour led the Good Life Garden farmer + steward Kofi Thomas.
Kofi Thomas is a Comedian, Farmer and Community Builder in Brooklyn, NY. He has spent the last decade growing gardens and friendships, reconnecting people to each other and the land. Recently, Kofi gave the keynote address entitled Radical Joy and Resistance at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s annual spring conference Making Brooklyn Bloom exploring the lessons that nature can teach us about resilience, interdependence, and harmony within community.
Maya Feller, MS, RD, CDN is the founder and lead dietitian at Maya Feller Nutrition. In her practice, her team provides medical nutrition therapy and nutrition coaching for hormone and metabolic health, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, mood disorders, developmental disabilities, disordered eating, and more.
She will lead an engaging and interactive conversation about the role of culturally affirming herbs in nourishing our health, preserving food traditions, and strengthening our connection to community. Inspired by her cookbook Eating from Our Roots, Maya will explore how herbs have long been woven into culinary practices across cultures, they add flavor, and support wellbeing through generations of shared knowledge. Grounded in nutrition science and cultural humility, this talkback will examine how traditional foodways and modern evidence can coexist to support everyday health. The session will conclude with an interactive Q&A, inviting reflection, curiosity, and conversation.
Reflection is an intersectional community care series curated by breathwork facilitator, weed auntie and entrepreneur Solonje Burnett. Focused on creating inclusive containers for wellbeing amplifying melanated practitioners, musicians, and plant medicine entrepreneurs. Each experience incorporates Femme and other non-dominant identity owned plant based brands to aid in grounding, detoxifying, achieving homeostasis, and recalibrating your frequency to consciously connect to yourself and each other.

Chrissy King is a writer, speaker, and educator who is reshaping the conversation around wellness, identity, and liberation. She is the author of The Body Liberation Project, a groundbreaking book that empowers us to stop shrinking, take up space, and embrace the fullness of who we are. Chrissy is also the founder of The Childfree Coven, a community for childfree women and nonbinary individuals. With degrees in Social Justice and Sociology from Marquette University, she merges her deep knowledge of systemic issues with her passion for wellness.
